How can you refresh your home on a budget?

If you’re thinking about selling your home but it’s looking a little bit tired and unloved, there are lots of small, inexpensive things you can do to transform your space. It’ll will make it much more attractive to buyers, and you also get to benefit from the changes before you move! 

Refresh your living room

Move things around, get rid of any clutter and introduce a few new cushions or a throw. Any room you spend a lot of time in is bound to pick up a few too many knick knacks and piles of books, magazines and documents, so look at it with fresh eyes and throw out or put away anything that doesn’t need to be there.

Repaint the walls

You can refresh your walls with some inexpensive paint very easily. If time and budget are really tight, concentrate on a feature wall. You can go bold for impact or choose neutral soft colours to make your house look bigger. 

Get tiling

Tiling generally takes up time and a bit of budget, but is there a nook, feature wall or cubby hole that would look great with some bright pattern tiling? Use your imagination to make the most of small spaces.

Use baskets

Wicker baskets or those useful IKEA crates serve a multitude of purposes. They look good, but they also hide some of the clutter in your house. Stack them on top of cupboards or underneath beds for some classy storage options.

Think of your walls

Mirrors make a space look bigger and enhance natural light, so pick up some reasonable mirror options for smaller rooms.  You can could also pick up some wall art to make a statement. This doesn’t have to be expensive –  whether you look at budget options, print out some nice pieces online or ask your friends and family to contribute. 

New bedding

Beds are the centerpieces of your bedrooms so make them look their best with some fresh modern bedding or a lovely throw. It’s a great way to update your rooms quickly.

Don’t forget the garden

Spend sometime outside too. Pressure wash the patio, clean up your borders, find some sturdy storage for children’s toys and any other garden tools and make sure that the outside of your home matches the inside.
